Quiz: Are You Ready for Your Theory Test?

Driving Theory Test Multiple Choice

Taking your theory test as early as possible might seem like the best idea in terms of focusing on your practical driving test, but booking it too early can result in multiple re-takes. Instead, it is worth spending the time to do the necessary preparation to pass the theory test first time around.

Take our quiz to see if you're really ready to take your theory test! Please note that this quiz relates only to the multiple choice part of the theory test.

If you want to test whether you are ready for the hazard perception element of the theory test, we have a separate quiz on this.

1. If you feel drowsy when driving, what should you do?

2. What is the best way to deal with a slow-moving vehicle?

3. Road signs that indicate warnings are what shape?

4. When is it fine to flash your headlights?

5. What should you do when joining a motorway?

6. Which lane should you mostly use when driving on the motorway?

0 points – Although these questions are only a cross-section of the type that you might encounter in the real theory test, your answers suggest that you have not done enough preparation to pass. To brush up on your driving knowledge, there are various websites offering sample questions to test yourself, including the DSA and AA websites. In addition, you can buy books, DVDs and CD-ROMs. Studying the Highway Code is also advisable.

1-4 points – Your answers suggest that you may have done some good preparation for the theory test (depending on which end of the points scale that your score fell into), but this may not be enough to pass the theory test. If your score fell closer to 1 than 4, it is probably best to spend some more time studying the Highway Code, and using books, DVDs and CD-ROMs to improve your chances.

5 points or more – Your answers suggest that you are ready to take the theory test as you have clearly answered most (if not all) of the questions correctly. Although there are many more questions that you could encounter in the real theory test, you seem to have done some impressive groundwork.
